Volunteer Week 1-7 June 2021

This week is Volunteer Week.

Taking place from 1-7 June each year, the week is an opportunity to recognise the difference millions of people make every year, by volunteering and to thank them for it.

We are very lucky to have so many wonderful people who volunteer and support our Charity, It’s good 2 give so, this week we would like to take the opportunity to thank them. For still being amazing throughout this difficult last year and going the extra mile to help where they can throughout the pandemic.

Our volunteers have embraced Zoom meetings, virtual training sessions, helped us deliver essential to families isolating and patients in hospital, supported our online events, taken part in the virtual Kiltwalk and kindly made donations even through Covid-19.

We would also like to celebrate our Young Ambassadors this week for the difference they make to our charity. Over the last year they have played their part to help It’s good 2 give and their local communities.  They sent over 100 Christmas cards to the local elderly and vulnerable people, completed random acts of kindness, attended virtual training, raised funds, completed challenges and much more. We are very proud of our Young Ambassadors and how they represent our charity. We hope their volunteering and care continues long into adulthood.

There’s no escaping how challenging the last year has been for us as a small charity.  Not being able to hold our fundraising events has been very difficult as they are major events in our calendar each year. We are so proud of the way our volunteers and supporters embraced virtual challenges and found new ways to fundraise raising an amazing sum of over £100,000 for It’s good 2 give.

We have missed seeing all our volunteers in person and are delighted that things are starting to return to a being a bit more normal.

We can’t wait to see you all again, share stories, laugh and continue to help young cancer patients and their families in Scotland.

Here’s a personal message of thanks from our co-founder, Lynne McNicoll.
