OUR TEAM

Lynne McNicoll OBE MCIOF -
Co-Founder.

When Lynne McNicoll first began volunteering and fundraising at the age of 49, she had no idea where it was going to take her. A year later, she had raised over £54,000 – and discovered a talent for networking and organising events on the way. Enlisting the help of the East of Scotland community, Lynne raised over £650,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust over the next four years. This helped to fund facilities especially designed for young people in Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children. She has also earned the title of Institute of Fundraising Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year Scotland 2009. She found herself inspired not only by the young cancer patients that she met, but also by their families.

At this point, Lynne and husband Ian decided, after months of deliberation, to set up their own charity - to support the whole family and for ages 0 right up to age 18 in practical ways. They also wanted to encourage volunteering and that is where the name of the charity came from. It's good 2 give..... time, ideas and skills - put them together wisely and you will raise the funds for your projects. And so, in early 2010, ‘It's Good 2 Give’ was formed. The goal was to provide practical support on a day to day basis and a dream to create a retreat where families could go to spend a few days together away from the hustle and bustle and noise of a hospital ward.

Ian retired from the Charity in 2021. Lynne was Chair of the Charity for 8 years. She handed over the reigns to Louise Caithness in June 2023 and semi-retired in December 2023. The start of a new chapter at It’s good 2 give.
