International Nurses Day
Nurses at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh
Today is International Nurses Day and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale. We have many reasons today to celebrate Florence’s achievements and all the nurses she trained and celebrate today’s nurses and the crucial role they play.
As a charity we are regularly in contact with hospital staff in The Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh and The Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow and see for ourselves the amazing job that nurses do 24 hours a day 365 days a year to look after children and young people with cancer and other illnesses.
The nurses we know always go above and beyond, putting their patients first and excelling in their role
Just last month we dropped off pamper gifts and letters of thanks to the nurses in Ward 2 in Edinburgh and looking forward to doing similar in Glasgow too very soon.
We want to thank all the incredible nurses here and around the world at this time, when many are risking their own lives to save others.
Please join us tonight when we will be showing our appreciation by shining a light from our windows at 8:30pm to mark the day.
