International Children’s Book Day

Since 1967, International Children’s Book Day has been celebrated on or around Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, 2 April.

As well as being a joyful experience, reading is also important for children’s development. It supports cognitive development, improves language skills, prepares for academic success, and creates imagination and creativity skills.

We would love you to help us provide three very special books to the children that stay at our Ripple Retreat. Books we know families love.

Bea and Brodie’s Magical Journey featuring the beautiful art of our friend and Scottish Borders artist Heather McLennan is a magical, mystical book which encourages children to be aware of the power of their imagination, and to use it as a force for good in their lives.

Bea and Brodie’s Mindful Journey is a lovely wistful rhyme, which tells the tale of Bea, the light-hearted honey bee, and her dearest friend, Brodie, a big handsome Highland cow who feels heavy and uncharacteristically out of sorts, as they take a journey to raise his spirits.

Both these books can be ordered from the fab folks at the Wee Book Company. They will even deliver the book straight to our office, simply let them know it’s for It’s Good 2 Give when you order.

The third book on our list is The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse by Charlie Mackesy. It tells the story of Charlie and his unlikely friends as they discover important life lessons as they adventure into the wild and explore the thoughts and feelings that unite us all. You can purchase this book using the link above or through our Amazon Wishlist.

If you need our address to post this book to, please email carla@itsgood2give.co.uk.

Thank you.
