Young Ambassadors Work Experience at It's Good 2 Give

Our Young Ambassadors, Tabby and Cara recently spent a week with us on work experience.

Cara and Tabby have been involved in It’s good 2 give (IG2G) for over 7 years and as well as being a Young Ambassador, Tabby has recently joined our board as a Young Trustee.

When asked why they had chosen It’s good 2 give for their work experience , Cara said she wanted to learn more about how the charity worked as an organisation – along with the day to day running. Tabby agreed this was the perfect opportunity to gain more of a in-depth knowledge of what is involved and the team roles at our charity.

Our team set them a variety of tasks over 5 days which were completed with great enthusiasm.

Their tasks included making up Parent and Patient packs, preparing the Ripple Retreat for families coming to stay, shadowing the Ripple Retreat Maintenance Manager, and understanding the financial roles and responsibilities of the charity.

Tabby now holds a certificate in the Emergency First Aid at Work after completing the course last week with the team.

When we asked the girls at the end of the week about their experience they said they had learnt that a lot more time goes into the day-to-day operations than they thought. They found out about the weekly maintenance checks at the Ripple Retreat which need to be logged and the process from start to finish when a family applies to stay at the retreat. Cara and Tabby also saw what’s involved in managing our finances and the the general work it takes to run a charity.

Lynne McNicoll, our Co-Founder and Chair said:

“We were delighted to have them as part of the team. They brought with them genuine interest and enthusiasm. They weren’t afraid to ask questions, share ideas, and get stuck in with the practical elements of the role. We’d be delighted to welcome them back again!”
