We are Eleven!
Today, 10 April 2021, we turn 11.
For the past 11 years It’s good 2 give, led by Lynne McNicoll OBE and Ian McNicoll, has been helping young cancer patients and their families in Scotland by providing them with support in real and practical ways. We have had many big achievements during this time including Lynne receiving her OBE in 2015 for her charity work, opening our Ripple Retreat as a safe and tranquil space for families to stay, in 2017 and receiving the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2019 - a wonderful recognition for the work of our volunteers.
Our 11th year, from April 2020 to April 2021, has been a strange one for everyone. Lockdown, social distancing, face masks and a new way of living have become a way of life for all of us.
Although it’s been a difficult 12 months, we are proud of all we have managed to do thanks to our wonderful supporters.
We have:
Held two virtual fundraising events - a completely new experience for all of us.
Donated vein finders to ward 6A (Oncology) at the Glasgow Children’s hospital and ward 2 at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.
Worked with Lottie dolls for us to provide young cancer patients in Scotland with bald dolls so they can play with dolls that look similar to them or their siblings.
Taken part in a Virtual Kiltwalk with our supporters and are preparing for the next one on 23 - 25 April.
Gifted 40 families a large selection of toys, games and puzzles, books, plus baking, sewing and craft kits.
Donated £1000 of Sainsburys vouchers and a supply of sweets and treats for the Oncology and Haematology Ward in Glasgow Royal Hospital for Children.
Helped 120 families by providing £100 of shopping vouchers to each.
Supplied £500 of £5 vouchers to allow parents to purchase their own snacks at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh.
Donated a brain model, a Chester chest dummy with standard arm and a paediatric lumbar puncture simulator to Ward 2, to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh and a Chester chest dummy with standard arm and a paediatric lumbar puncture simulator to Glasgow.
Donated over £80,000 to provide 100 comfy chairs for parents in wards and clinics and brightly designed wall art to help make the new Royal Hospital for Children and Young People’s spaces more pleasant to stay in.
