Volunteering is Great - for All Ages!

Volunteers' Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering in their communities.

To start off this years Volunteering Week, we’re passing this blog over to one of our Young Ambassadors, Grace to tell us about her volunteering experiences.

Hello, I’m Grace and I’m a Young Ambassador for It’s Good 2 Give. I started my role when I was 7 years old as my wee brother was diagnosed with wretched cancer. I love my part of the team because I get to meet so many important people and have been involved in so many awesome events. These have helped to raise money and awareness of our amazing charity.

So far, I have taken part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk, helped at the Christmas Afternoon Teas, sold plants at Sylvia’s plant sale, supported at Joanna’s Golf day and have sold lots of IG2G branded merchandise over the years. I had two virtual bake-offs in lockdown which was just a blast! I will NEVER forget swinging through the trees at Go Ape and getting stuck in the middle of the zip line!!! I even help to welcome families to the magical Ripple Retreat.

Being a Young Ambassador has helped me connect with other people who have lived the same experience as our family. Cancer is just thee worst but the charity has helped me and my family get through a pretty tricky couple of years.

Love Grace x

Lynne says……

“Last year I asked Grace to design some merchandise that was aimed at children and low cost.

She sent me this drawing of a pencil.  We are delighted to be able to say we have Grace’s pencil
now for sale at events – at just £1 per pencil it is good value and teaches Grace a little bit about
entrepreneurship.

If you’d like to buy her pencils ask any of our event team.”
