Trustees Week - Rosemary Calder
Rosemary Calder has been a Trustee for the past two years. She brings with her a wealth of experience and is a proactive trustee and ambassador helping to raise awareness of It’s good 2 give, particularly in the west of Scotland
Here she is to tell us about herself and being a Trustee of it’s good to give.
“I retired from the corporate world in 2016.
For the majority of my career, I worked for BT in various Customer Service and Operational roles up to General Manager level and was a key and active member of the BT Scotland Board.
I heard about It’s good 2 give in 2011 when my niece was diagnosed with cancer.
Our family has supported the charity since then, fundraising in every way possible, in my case mainly through cycling activities - I cycled Glasgow to Edinburgh on more than a few occasions!
Whilst being an Ambassador for many years I felt being a Trustee would enable myself to be more involved and would also help open doors to larger fundraising opportunities.
I have been a Trustee for the past 2 years. During this time, I have utilised my strong relationship skills, always have enthusiasm for this amazing charity, and have the ability to get things done.
I have proactively used my previous business contacts in the West of Scotland to support fundraising activities, promoting the charity and gaining contacts for applications into charity foundations.
A previous business contact, David Budge MD, Budge PR has been a key supporter and a link into companies in the International Financial Service District in Glasgow (IFSD).
I loved being involved in organising and delivering the Christmas and New Year food and treats at the Royal Hospital for Children Glasgow oncology ward last year.
When Lynne McNicoll announced the first Glasgow Blingo event February 2020 it was a great opportunity for me to promote the charity to friends, neighbours, and previous work colleagues. We had some fantastic prizes donated by local Glasgow Businesses, who also took tables at Blingo. The event was a resounding success, and the 2022 Glasgow Blingo was built on this success and was an amazing event.
I am looking forward to more fundraising fun in 2023, introducing more business contacts, attending events and planning Glasgow Super Blingo early 2024!”
Thanks Rosemary
