Mum's Day at the Ripple Retreat
On a sunny Autumn Saturday morning we recently welcomed five mums of young cancer patients to the Ripple Retreat.
Travelling from Perth, Glasgow and Edinburgh, the mums had been invited along for a day of relaxation and pampering; an opportunity to take much needed time out just for themselves.
The mums arrived in time for coffee and pastries around the large dining table and they instantly began chatting to one another about their child’s experience with cancer, sharing and listening to stories. The feedback we received is that this alone time was invaluable, just to have the opportunity to talk to others who understand what they are going through.
The amazing team from Balanced Edinburgh, Judith, Fiona and Nora, provided massage and pilates, and one of our Trustees, Louise, brought Zest Beauty to the Retreat with a manicure and gel nails for everyone.
We provided a lovely lunch, giving the ladies another opportunity to be together and have the opportunity to chat.
Here is some of the feedback we received:
“Just a note to say thanks again to you and everyone involved on Saturday for giving us such an amazing day. You all put in such a lot of effort and I've honestly not had such a relaxing day in a long time. It was also so nice to connect with other Mum's going through the same thing.”
“Thank you for such a wonderful day. I felt welcome from the off & have came home feeling truly spoiled.“
“The Ripple Retreat is just stunning inside and out. I was totally blown away by the views and how much thought and energy is clearly put into the place to provide a wonderfully memorable stay for families. Thank you for all of the work you all do to support families like mine, we are so grateful.”
We plan to hold another Mums’ Day in February, and we are not forgetting about Dads with a day planned soon for them too!
