Meet Michelle - An out of this World supporter
Michelle Aston is a member of a community of Peter Capaldi and Doctor Who fans who celebrate the career of Peter Capaldi.
The group became aware of It’s good 2 give three years ago when, as a patron of our charity, Peter shared a video encouraging people to sign up to take part in the Kiltwalk to raise funds for our Ripple Retreat and to help us support young cancer patients and their families in Scotland.
Here’s Michelle to tell us more about the community and their fundraising efforts for our charity.
”As many of Peter Capaldi’s fans scattered across the globe were expressing their disappointment at being unable to take part in the Kiltwalk, I set up a fundraising page to coincide with Peter’s 60th birthday for It’s Good 2 Give. We wanted to be able to give something back to thank him for the kindness and generosity he shows to his fans by supporting a charity which is close to his heart.
Since then, we’ve raised £6,747 so far and we are still working on this total. It’s been heartwarming to see everyone come together to show their support - the majority of which came from the Doctor Who fan community who have taken on board the Twelfth Doctor’s message of kindness.
So many people have come onboard to share the fundraising pages and offer donations of prizes. A fan favourite artist, Valentina Marshcaps, created and donated artwork which, along with signed items we were gratefully donated, have helped us raise more funds.
We will continue to support It’s Good 2 Give in any way we can, especially during these difficult times. Most recently I organised a Christmas raffle with a fellow community member Melody who creating a memory book to raise money for It’s good 2 give in celebration of Peter Capaldi’s career.
It’s good 2 give has now become close to our hearts and we’re so grateful to Peter for making us aware of the charity, all the incredible work Lynne does, and how important the Ripple Retreat is for families.
Thank you Michelle, we very much appreciate the support of you and your fellow community members.
