Meet Susan - Our Ripple Retreat Manager

Susan joined It’s good 2 give as Ripple Retreat Manager in January and we are delighted to have her board.

Supporting young cancer patients (from birth to 18) and their families in Scotland, the Ripple Retreat, situated on the shores of Loch Venachar, is a place families can spend precious time together during or after treatment. Families stay at no cost to themselves.

Alongside overseeing the running of the retreat, Susan will be liaising with the wider local community including businesses, schools, organisations, to build new relationships and charity partnerships.

Bringing a wealth of skills and experience to the role, Susan will be working closely with our Co-Founder and Chair Lynne, leading on the Ripple Retreat’s extensive maintenance programme, liaising with contractors and local businesses throughout the year to ensure that visiting families have a safe, welcoming, and calm environment to enjoy during their stay.

Susan first learned about It’s good 2 give and the Ripple Retreat after volunteering at the water stop for the Callander 10k last March. She loved the name of the charity when she started volunteering saying - ‘It’s true – it feels good to give!’

Since volunteering at the water stop, has also helped us a our Blingo event, Rotary coffee mornings and the Marketing Award.

She has signed up to train as a Welcome Volunteer, welcoming families as they arrive at the retreat on a Saturday morning before becoming our Ripple Retreat Manager..

Susan says:

“Like many locals I had often walked by, cycled by, paddled by the Ripple Retreat and was intrigued by the building but not enough to dare to venture any further or indeed find out anything more.

When I first walked through the door of The Retreat I got an instant very special feeling of a very special place

I am honoured to be part of the amazing It’s Good 2 Give team and privileged to be the Manager of such an amazing space

I am looking forward to sharing It’s good 2 give news with the local community - and further afield and bringing the community to the Retreat to understand the impact it has on the families who stay.”
