Lynne’s Last Ball
Hi folks, it's Lynne McNicoll here - co-founder of It's good 2 give
A couple of weeks ago, I organised my last ever big fundraising event. I am sure in the future I might well hold small at-home events, but after organising 105 events over the past 18 years, I need a wee rest!
We are very fortunate to have Carla in our team. She quietly organises and plans and with a degree in event organisation is an absolute treasure. Between us, we dealt with sourcing the best venue, contracts, menu, prizes for the raffle and auction, and a table gift for each table. We spent hundreds of hours in advance of the event - we both like attention to detail even to the extent of providing reading glasses should anyone need them. Carla sorted transport for our hosts Grant and Tonya and made sure the room was ready for our entertainment Bleeker to do their sound checks. She liaised with the AV guys on timings.
I am so fortunate in the friends I have made in the past 18 years and two of those wonderfully agreed to come and help me in the morning with wrapping of prizes. Tia and Alison are amazing gift wrappers! Our prizes looked even more stunning after their efforts.
Talking of prizes - again, the businesses and individuals who have so generously supported me in my fundraising over the past 18 years once again came up trumps with some amazing prizes. Our guests would be happy to win any of them for sure.
Grant Stott and Tonya Macari are Founding Patrons of our charity and they hosted our event superbly - raising lots of funds through the raffles and auctions. One of the most popular auction prizes was one of the wee metal Highland cow sculptures that ArtFe made for us. With bronzed ears and multi-coloured body, he was a wee stunner - our guests thought so too and bid so high for him that Kev offered to do two coos! So we raised £24,000 for the two sculptures. Kindness and generosity ooze out of Kev and Cat's pores.
After the auction, Bleeker soon had our guests dancing the rest of the night away. To top it all off, we raised over £65,500 for our charity.
Heartfelt thanks to all who:
Donated prizes
Sponsored printing
Came to the event
Bought raffle tickets
Bid in the auction and of course
Our amazing volunteers ably supervised by our Volunteer Manager, Jane.
We truly do appreciate you.

I am now signing off from organising events, but I sure did love every one of the 105 events I have organised!
Until next time,
