A Fairway to Fundraising at Joanna Lamb Golf Day

The annual Joanna Lamb Golf Day was once again a roaring success this year, offering a fitting tribute to this wonderful young woman who did so much for our charity.

Each year, supporters tee off at Turnhouse Golf Club to fundraise in the memory of Jo, one of our most inspiring supporters who sadly lost her life to cancer in 2019. This year, 212 participants took part on the course from 7am to 6pm, as they traversed the fairways to raise funds for It’s Good 2 Give.

Fundraisers were kept fuelled and energised by a cake and coffee event in the clubhouse, where members enjoyed home-made treats donated and funded by supporters.

Participants and supporters also had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a fantastic range of golf-related prizes, as well as chat to our representatives, co-founder and chair, Lynne McNicoll and Fiona Bruce to talk through the importance of our work. Lynne was glad to hold the fort in the clubhouse, while Fiona offered refreshments and chatted to golfers in the halfway house.

The day was capped by an impassioned talk from Alan Lamb—Joanna’s father—who spoke about the day, the funds raised, and the goal of this year’s fundraising.

This year’s event raised £14,000, which will be used to launch our own inclusive boat on Loch Venachar—The Joanna. We’re delighted to see this dream become a reality, and we know that Joanna would be equally proud of this wonderful achievement.

We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Lamb family, who in total have raised over £22,000 for It’s good 2 give this year. That monumental achievement deserves all our appreciation, particularly in a year so disrupted by the pandemic.

Our thanks also go to all the local businesses who made the Joanna Lamb Golf Day such a success, without whom we wouldn’t be able to deliver such a fantastic event with such wonderful prizes.

While Jo’s physical presence was sorely missed at this event, as she is in all our work at It’s good 2 give, we felt strongly that she was with us in spirit. The beautiful weather we enjoyed, and the laughter, joy and generosity that framed the event is a fitting tribute to her legacy.

Our thanks again to all involved, and to Jo for the inspiration she continues to deliver.
