2 Minutes with Tonya Macari

We are writing a series of blogs to give you a bit of an insight into some of our Patrons and Ambassadors. Next up is Tonya Macari.

Here’s her answer to our nine questions. See if you agree with her choice of fundraising dinner guests…

1. How long have you been a Patron/Ambassador for IG2G?
Since day one ie over a decade!

2. What inspired you to choose IG2G?
I met Lynne 4 years before IG2G was formally created when I got involved in helping her with fundraising events for teenage cancer trust and so it was a natural progression to follow Lynne down her IG2G route.

3. If you were hosting a fundraising dinner to raise funds for IG2G which 6 famous people would you invite?  Adele - I reckon she would be a real laugh, Michelle Obama because she would inspire everyone ..and possibly bring her husband as a Plus One which would be rather nice, Gary Barlow, George Clooney and George Michael because I know ladies at IG2G events have great taste in men...and Justin Bieber as we'd get a fortune auctioning off everything he touched, looked at or walked past!

4. Has there been one special moment with IG2G you'd like to share?
There have been so many over the years but sharing Joanna Lambs joy at the success of the 2018 IG2G Ball,  which she helped organise just a few months before she died, is a memory which will never fade for me. It was a truly special night.

5. What is your favourite .......book, film, food, drink, animal?
The Bridges of Madison County (a total sob buster of a book ), Cinema Paradiso because it is sooo beautiful..., chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate, gin & tonic and Polar Bears.

6. If you were marooned on a desert island for a year, what 3 items would you take with you?
A radio, a lifetimes supply of creme eggs and a hot water bottle for those chilly evenings!

7. If you could only play one song for the next 6 months, what would it be and why?
Aretha Franklins version of 'Bridge over troubled water '. Aretha could sing anything and it would sound melodious- even my credit card bill!! Her treatment of this classic is uplifting, inspirational and just makes my soul sing! Glorious!

8. Which singer would you choose to perform a song at an IG2G event?
Robbie Williams would go down a treat with his music and legendary patter!

9. What would the title of your autobiography be?
As 'I, Tonya' has already been pinched by skater Tonya Harding, published and made into a film, it would have to be something else! As everyone knows I like to talk, I suppose 'Talking Tonya' might fit the bill!!

Thanks Tonya
