Tracey Samson - Aberdeen Kiltwalker
It’s good 2 give supporter, Tracey Samson was part of our Aberdeen Kiltwalk team in May. In this blog, she tells us why she took part.
“My beautiful Grandson Averey was diagnosed with leukaemia in May 2021. As you can imagine our world stopped spinning and simple everyday tasks became overwhelming.
We did get past those first stages of shock with help from the wonderful staff in Lochranza ward at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, Edinburgh and it was there we learned of It’s good 2 give.
There are so many children and families in the same situation with all different cancers, some requiring more intensive treatments and longer stays in hospital than us.
It's good 2 give help supports young cancer patients by lightening up their days, just a little. Their kindness takes them out of their worries and make us all raise a smile even in dark times.
I'm pleased to report that one year on, Averey is responding very well to all his treatments. He has some way to go but we remain positive.
Thank you and I hope our fundraising helps you all continue to do the important work that you do.”
The Aberdeen Kiltwalk team were Tracey, Gerard, and Andrew and between them they raised £2000 – incredible!
Thank you to the whole team and their friends and families who sponsored them.
