Meet our Young Ambassadors - Blair

Blair and Lynne

Hi I’m Blair.

I think It’s good 2 give is a great charity because they do the best they can do to help young patients and their families with cancer and other illnesses.

I had a friend who was diagnosed with cancer and sadly, after a few months in hospital, she passed away. Ever since that I have done as much I can to help other patients that have illnesses and Lynne was kind enough to let me join the It’s good 2 give Young Ambassador Team.

As a Young Ambassador, I know that I am giving my own time to help others.

I want to try and do all I can to help these sorts of people, and what encourages me is all of the smiles I see as a result and how much support I get from all of the other Young Ambassadors.

We all want the same thing - to help the charity.

Knowing all of this makes me want to do it more.

Some of the highlights for me have been selling over 300 water bottles and lots of glasses cleaners that have the charity name and logo on them. I really like coming up with new ideas for things to sell for the charity and I learn a lot working out (with a little help)  which ones will help raise money for the charity. My water bottles made about £1000 and I am really grateful to everyone who supported me by buying them.

I also really enjoy meeting people while selling raffle tickets at the annual ball, Blingo and afternoon tea events and going to Edinburgh Rugby games with the collection buckets (even better I get to watch the rugby too!). I’ve completed the Edinburgh Kiltwalk with my family in 2018 and 2019. We are hoping we will still get to do it in September this year but that really depends on what happens with the virus. Other benefits for me have been completing a junior first aid course, attending a Charity Board meeting and a really fun trip to Go Ape.

I love being a Young Ambassador and hope to continue to support Lynne and her team at It’s good 2 give for many years to come.  Lynne even says some of us could become Trustees for the charity when we are older - you never know!

Stay safe everyone.
