Joanna Lamb Golf Day 2022

The Joanna Lamb Golf Day in aid of It’s good 2 give.

The event, which has been running for five years takes place at Turnhouse Golf Course, where the Lamb family are members. Joanna started organising the golf day five years ago, but sadly passed away in 2019 a week after her 18th birthday. Joanna’s family continue to organise the annual event, just one of the ways the Lamb family recognises Joanna and how much she meant to our charity.

Joanna was a volunteer, an Ambassador, Trustee, and latterly part of our staff team.

This year's event was organised by Jo’s younger sister Nicola. Here she is to tell us about the day.

Why did you choose a golf day?
Joanna came up with the golf day because she loved playing golf, the Turnhouse golf club atmosphere and she also wanted to help raise and much money and she could for the charity that she held very close in heart.

How long have they been doing it for?
This year was our 5th year and my first year running it. The golf day has really turned into remembering Jo and the amazing person she was.

A bit about Jo as your sister.
Jo was a very important person in my life, I always looked up to her and she protected me at all costs. I have had to come to terms with losing not just a sister but a best friend. I miss her every day.

What did it feel like doing more of the organisation this year?
I really enjoyed it, it felt good to be a key member of the event.

Any stand out good parts/ hard parts of organising the event.
Some good parts of organising that I enjoyed was making my plans of what was going to happen on the day and organising where all the volunteers would be going.

Some hard parts were just not getting too stressed about everything going well.

Any new skills you've learnt.
I have learnt to delegate more and not do everything myself and also a bit of leadership and I have never really been in a situation when I need to give out jobs etc.

How much you raised on the day.
An amazing £13,613.35!

Well done to Nicola, her family and everyone that helped to make this event so special.
