From Home-Baked Fun to Michael Buble in the Garden: My Journey with Small, Joyful Fundraising

Lynne, the remarkable fundraiser behind "It's good 2 give," shares the heartwarming tale of her very first fundraising event, held right at home, proving that small events can make a big difference.

A Birthday Challenge: With her 50th looming, Lynne aimed to raise a staggering £50,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust. Never having fundraised before, she started small – with an all-day open house at her own home!

Cakes, Coffee, and Community: Picture a day filled with delicious treats, relaxing massages, a vibrant raffle, and friendly chatter. Local businesses joined in, with a clothing stall boosting the fun. Though my feet ached by 8pm, the reward was immense. We raised over £2,000, and my incredible stepdaughter Susan, ever by my side, was there to celebrate. And yes, those initial steps involved mainly friends, family, and friendly folks from the gym – but that's the beauty of it!

Start Small, Dream Big: Lynne emphasizes the importance of starting small and prioritising fun. Remember, fundraising isn't (and shouldn't be!) about stress. "FUN" is in the acronym because joy fuels passion. Start small, like inviting friends for coffee and homemade treats. I once attended such an event – a delightful gathering over scones and meringues that became one of my fondest fundraising memories.

Magical Memories: From BBQs with my famous teriyaki chicken burgers to a Michael Buble tribute in the garden, Lynne's home events have been diverse and unforgettable. "Every one has been fun," she declares.
