The 2020 Joanna Lamb Golf Day

Two years ago Joanna Lamb created a Golf Day at Turnhouse Golf Club where she and many of her family are members. A day full of cakes, coffees, golf, and support for It’s good 2 give.

Sadly Joanna died 5 days after her 18th birthday in 2019, however her legacy still brings us all so much joy and amazement which is why this event continues on.

On Saturday 26th September, we held this year’s Joanna Lamb Golf Day, with changes made to make the event Covid compliant. Sadly this meant there was no coffee and cakes and no visitors other than those who were connected to the Golf competition but everyone there made the most of the day.

Over 200 golfers took part in the four ball team competition. They enjoyed a breakfast and burger roll stop at Hole 11, where Parent Ambassadors Shonagh and Angela (Jo’s mum), along with It’s good 2 give Trustee Fiona, and supporters Max, Davie and Nicole met the golfers, served up drinks and food to the golfers, and thanked them for their superb donations for their rolls.

We were very kindly donated bacon, lorne sausage and burgers from super supporters Shadi and Angus Kirk from Mathiesons Butchers, burgers from McGill’s Butchers and rolls from McArthurs Bakery, which has a special connection to the event as Joanna worked there for some time.

Beside the first tee, and the last hole, It’s good 2 give Chair and Co-founder Lynne, and Trustee Susie, met golfers looking at our fabulous merchandise. They sold loads of Christmas cards, jigsaws, water bottles, pens, bobble hats, facemasks and many more of our charity products (you can see all our merchandise here on our website).

In the background, we had a donation page and an auction page that ran until 5th October with amazing prices including a round of golf for three at Loch Lomond, a golf bag, Powakaddy, signed Edinburgh Rugby products and afternoon tea with a Mercedes for the weekend!

Everyone at the event was very kind and generous, and made the day absolutely brilliant in memory of Joanna helping to raise an astonishing £12157!

We would like to thank David Gemmell and his team at Turnhouse Golf Club, Jo’s aunt Yvonne and dad Alan for all their hard work in putting the event together.

Huge thanks also go to all the Club members, supporters on the day, include those who sponsored parts of the event, and donated the brilliant auction prizes and to all of Joanna’s family, for continuing to be such a massive part of It’s good 2 give.
