Helping to Make a Difference - Hospital Packs

Part of what we do at It’s good 2 give is helping young cancer patients and their families while they are in hospital.

We help them in practical ways to make their days a bit more manageable.

As part of this, we provide packs for babies, toddlers, children, teenagers and adults which include the essentials that anyone would need for overnight stays that they don’t have the time or headspace to organise for themselves.

These packs include all the little things we have to hand at home all the time and are very much part of our lives.

  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste

  • Notepad and pens

  • Razors

  • Lip balm

  • Shampoo

  • Tissues

  • Moisturisers

For little ones we provide

  • Baby wipes

  • Teething rings

  • Dummies

  • Flannels

  • Sponges

  • Bibs

  • Mini fans and batteries

Feedback from a nurse that works at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, Fiona knows the difference these packs can make:

As a nurse working within ward 2 I get to experience the positive impact parent packs have on patients and families when first diagnosed with cancer. It may seem like such a small gesture but I can’t tell you how well received and invaluable these are. It allows them not to worry about simple things they might need after an unexpected check in to ward 2. They are filled with practical things like a toothbrush and face wipes go a long way to making people feel human during these stressful times, or a little reading light so they can enjoy a book in bed at night time. These are just a few of the lovely items these packs contain. As a nurse it’s a lovely token to be able to offer these families at a very difficult time. There is something for everyone, including mum/dad packs, teenage packs and the new addition of baby/toddler packs. It’s Good 2 Give really have covered all angles and we all much appreciate everything they do.
