It's good 2 give

A New Chapter

It’s an exciting time for me personally and for our charity.

Way back in 2010, when Ian and I founded It’s good 2 give, we really only thought about the short term goals – to support young cancer patients and their families in practical ways and to create a retreat.

Here we are, 13 years later and  we sure have achieved a great deal.   In addition to smaller (and yet still very important) packages of support we have created the Ripple Retreat – an award winning, stunning place on the shores of Loch Venachar.

As if that wasn’t enough we have also funded four psychologist posts in central Scotland for five years (and hopefully many more years after that too).

We’ve met hundreds of generous individuals and businesses who have helped us achieve those goals.  They donated their time, skills, products and money. (and in David and Jean Ferguson’s case – land!)
Our circle of friendship has grown personally too!

Ian and I have both chaired our board – he did the first few years and I have been Chair for past six years and it is time for me now to start to step back from some of my roles in our Charity.  It has grown to be a fair sized charity and it needs a new generation and a business mind at the helm now and I am absolutely delighted that Louise Caithness, owner and MD of Zest Skin Spa and Edinburgh School of Beauty has taken on the role of Chair.

Louise has supported our charity from the very start and indeed has climbed Kilimanjaro with her sister and a group of 29 others (including me too) to raise funds in 2013.  She has been a trusted adviser to me for many years.  I’m looking forward very much to working with her as our new Chair.

I am also delighted to be sharing more of the day to day running of the charity with Angela Preston, our Operations Manager – allowing me to focus on some new projects.

I’ve a very busy second half of 2023 too – as many of you know, I plan this year as the last year I will organise events – much as I love them, and I really do, they are hugely time consuming projects!   I have an event in Hobbs coming up in September and our Ball in November.  We will still hold events after that but I will be adviser and guest rather than do-er!

I am looking forward to a wee bit more time off to enjoy walks with Ian and friends and do a bit more of our other passion – completing jigsaws!

Lynne

A note from Louise

”I feel very privileged and proud to accept this new role. It has been very humbling to work alongside the brilliant It’s good 2 give team and the families they support over the years as a volunteer. Lynne and Ian have worked tirelessly to create a wonderful charity that provides so much for young cancer patients and their families.  As Chair of the charity, I am committed to working closely with my fellow board members, and the It’s good 2 give team, to ensure that we continue to provide the very best support to those that need it.”
